CARDINALS ADD RELIEVER MUJICA

The St. Louis Cardinals acquired pitcher Edward Mujica from the Miami Marlins for third baseman Zack Cox.

What does it give the St. Louis Cardinals
The Cardinals land a decent reliever in Mujica, who was at one point in the 2012 season a candidate to close for the Marlins. He'll likely pitch in middle relief in St. Louis, or fill a setup role in the seventh inning, behind solid righties Jason Motte and Mitchell Boggs. He has a quality arm, so this is a good move for the contending Cards.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
Coz was once a highly-touted prospect (drafted 25th overall in 2010), but his progress has stagnated a little since. He has some power potential but needs to improve his walk/strikeout ratio in order to maximize it. He may get a chance to play in the bigs soon, since Miami traded away both Hanley Ramirez and Matt Dominguez recently. Cox could be a sleeper here.
