OAKLAND ADDS LEFTY RELIEVER ABAD

The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Fernando Abad from the Washington Nationals for outfielder John Wooten.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's add lefty reliever Abad, who was recently designated for assignment by Washington after posting decent big-league numbers in 2013: 3.35 earned-run average, 32 strikeouts in 37.2 innings. He has a pretty good shot at earning a job as one of Oakland's lefty specialists in 2014.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
Wooten has power (20 home runs in 495 at-bats for low Single-A Beloit in 2013), and he also seems capable of drawing plenty of walks (53 last season). The Nationals could use someone with more power potential, so this is a solid addition for a player who had been designated for assignment.

Fantasy impact
Abad doesn't have much fantasy value as a depth lefty reliever, but Wooten has some fantasy upside as an outfielder for the future. Put him on your keeper-league radar.
