ROCKIES ACQUIRE OF STUBBS FROM THE TRIBE
The Colorado Rockies acquired outfielder Drew Stubbs from the Cleveland Indians for pitcher Josh Outman.
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies traded center-fielder {P Dexter Fowler} to Houston earlier in the off-season, so they have an opening if Stubbs is capable of grabbing the bull by the horns. He is more likely to settle into a platoon with either {P Corey Dickerson} or {P Charlie Blackmon}. Stubbs' defense and speed remain his callind cards.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Indians signed {P David Murphy} earlier in the off-season, and he is expected to play most of the time in right field. Therefore, Stubbs was deemed expendable. Cleveland will likely use {P Ryan Raburn} more in a platoon with Murphy. Outman is a serviceable left-hander who should serve as a long man out of the 'pen.
Fantasy impact
Stubbs may see a spike in playing time if he wins the everyday center-field job in Denver, but that's unlikely at this point. He remains a fantasy dark horse. As for Outman, his value remains the same...negligible.
