The Oakland Athletics acquired pitcher Deck McGuire from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
McGuire is 25 years old but has yet to make his MLB debut. Still, the A's have a great track record with this type of reclamation project.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays decided to give up on McGuire, but they have better young pitchers ahead of him so they shouldn't feel the sting here.

Fantasy impact
McGuire won't be a fantasy factor unless/until he reaches Oakland. Even then, he's far too inconsistent to be on the radar at this point.
