CUBS GET LEFTY DOUBRONT FROM BOSTON
The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Felix Doubront from the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs, more specifically President of Baseball Operations Theo Epstein, are very familiar with Doubront. The 26-year-old lefty will probably get a chance to start again in the Windy City, after being banished to the 'pen in Beantown. He requested a move and Boston obliged. There is still untapped upside here.
What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox needed to make a move in order to activate {P Brandon Workman}, and it was believed {P Jon Lester} would be dealt. Instead, the BoSox first shipped out the unhappy Doubront, in exchange for a future asset or straight cash. This deal was done mostly to get rid of a sulking player from the clubhouse.
Fantasy impact
Doubront could see a revival in Chicago, especially if he's inserted quickly into the rotation. He has plenty of sleeper appeal as a result.
