O'S ADD DE AZA FOR OUTFIELD DEPTH

The Baltimore Orioles acquired outfielder Alejandro De Aza from the Chicago White Sox for pitchers Miguel Chalas and Mark Blackmar.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles are looking like a strong pennant contender this season, so adding more depth at this time of year is a good thing. Since de Aza can play all three outfield positions, steal a base and hit right-handed pitching decently, look for him to come off the bench down the stretch. If Baltimore likes what they see in the 30-year-old Dominican, they might bring him back to challenge for the left field job next spring. For now, he's a depth player.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
With the White Sox out of contention, General Manager Rick Hahn has done a nice job of selling off assets late in 2014. Chalas is a 22-year-old reliever who has reached Triple-A ball and could be a part of the White Sox' bullpen at some point next season. Blackmar, also 22, has reached high Single-A ball and can be used as either a starter or reliever. Perhaps more importantly, this move gives {P Moises Sierra} a shot at winning the left field job.

Fantasy impact
The big loser here are de Aza fantasy owners because he goes from playing semi-regularly in a platoon with the White Sox to a bench role in Baltimore. The big winner here could be Sierra owners if he unseats {P Dayan Viciedo} for the left field job (whether it be in September or next spring). Chalas and Blackmar are now on the fantasy radar, but they both still have a long way to go.
