HALOS ADD LEFTY RELIEVER RAMOS

The Los Angeles Angels acquired pitcher Cesar Ramos from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Mark Sappington.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels needed a lefty specialist for their bullpen, so the hope is Ramos can fill that role in 2015. He has experience as a starting pitcher too (7 starts with TB in 2014) and has pitched mostly in long and middle relief in the big leagues, but the 30-year-old native of Los Angeles is needed as more of a specialist here.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays got pretty good mileage out of Ramos for parts of four seasons, so they did what they usually do (traded him away while his value was still positive). In Sappington, Tampa Bay receives a big right-hander who will only turn 24 later this month. He has experience as both a starter and reliever but is a limited talent.

Fantasy impact
If Ramos winds up as the Angels' only lefty in their 'pen next season, he could rack up solid holds totals (for those in leagues where that stat applies). Otherwise, this deal is not really a fantasy leaguer's dream.
