ROYALS ADD OF FUENTES FROM SAN DIEGO

The Kansas City Royals acquired outfielder Reymond Fuentes from the San Diego Padres for pitcher Kyle Bartsch.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals are taking a chance on the 23-year-old Floridian, who has failed to crack both the Red Sox and Padres so far. He's athletic and fast, so Fuentes is probably in the right organization now. That said, he won't be more than a backup outfielder for the time being (and is in tough to win a roster spot out of spring training).

What does it give the San Diego Padres
In Bartsch, the Padres get a left-handed reliever with some upside. He's 23 years old and coming off a strong campaign in high Single-A ball (41 GP, 5-5, 7 saves, 45 hits, 12 BB, 52 K in 55 IP for Wilmington in the Carolina League), so he might move quickly in his new organization. This is a solid trade for both franchises.

Fantasy impact
Fuentes is not really fantasy-worthy unless he wins a starting job in Kansas City, which is unlikely at this point. As a result, he's barely on the keeper-league radar. Bartsch has more fantasy upside as a potential quality late-inning reliever, but he isn't expected to be a factor for the Padres in 2015.
