ROYALS ADD INFIELDER JACKSON FROM LA

The Kansas City Royals acquired infielder Ryan Jackson from the Los Angeles Dodgers for cash.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
In Jackson, the Royals get a 26-year-old infielder who can fill in at shortstop and serve as organizational depth. He won't challenge starting shortstop {P Alcides Escobar} or veteran second baseman {P Omar Infante} for their jobs but could carve out a place on the Kansas City bench in 2015.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers parted ways with Jackson despite their current hole at shortstop, following the loss of free agent {P Hanley Ramirez} to the Boston Red Sox. LA is said to be in the market for a new shortstop, and they still have the likes of {P Justin Turner}, {P Alex Guerrero} and {P Darwin Barney} for middle infield depth.

Fantasy impact
Jackson would need to receive significant playing time in KC in order to become fantasy-relevant, which is not likely to happen in 2015. There is nothing to see here.
