YANKEES ADD BULLPEN HELP FROM ATLANTA

The New York Yankees acquired pitchers David Carpenter and Chasen Shreve from the Atlanta Braves for pitcher Manny Banuelos.

What does it give the New York Yankees
The Yankees were in need of bullpen help, so this deal helps them significantly. Carpenter is expected to become the Yankees' main right-handed setup man behind new closer {P Dellin Betances}, while 24-year-old Shreve is a decent bet to find a spot on the 25-man roster as a lefty specialist.

What does it give the Atlanta Braves
In Banuelos, the Braves land a very good left-handed pitching prospect whose career has been slowed by injury. Still, the Braves are rebuilding and can afford to be patient with the 23-year-old Mexican. After making 25 starts at three different levels in 2014, Banuelos is close to being ready to pitch in the bigs.

Fantasy impact
Carpenter's role in the Bronx should be more defined, so his value is on the rise. Ditto Shreve, though his fantasy value is still somewhat limited as a situational lefty. As for Banuelos, he should get better opportunities in Atlanta and has significant keeper value. In fact, he's now a sleeper heading into 2015.
