YANKEES ADD RELIEVER CHRIS MARTIN

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Chris Martin from the Colorado Rockies for cash.

What does it give the New York Yankees
In Martin, the Yankees land a 6-8 righty who throws fairly hard. They obviously liked him enough to place him on their 40-man roster (and designate former Mets reliever {P Gonzalez German} for assignment in the process). Martin should compete for a spot in the bullpen in spring training as a depth right-hander.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies had designated Martin for assignment already, so it's a bonus that they were able to convert him into cash at this point. He struggled during his 16-game stint in Denver in 2014 (6.89 ERA), so perhaps a move away from Coors Field will help him. This seems like a good move for all parties involved.

Fantasy impact
Don't expect much in terms of fantasy numbers from Martin, assuming he even sticks in Major League Baseball with the Yankees. He'll merely round out their bullpen.
