JAYS, ROCKIES SWAP PITCHING PROSPECTS

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Jayson Aquino from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Tyler Ybarra.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
Aquino is just 22 years old and has already reached Double-A ball, which bodes pretty well for his future within the Blue Jays organization. That said, he needs to improve his control in order to maximize his upside as a big-league starter. Still, the Dominican left-hander was a solid pickup for Toronto.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
At age 25, Ybarra doesn't have nearly as much upside as Aquino. He's also a lefty but pitches out of the bullpen, and is just as wild as Aquino. That said, he will likely reach the big leagues earlier than Aquino--which may have been Colorado's prime motivation in this transaction. Still, they could have done better here.

Fantasy impact
Aquino could be a long-range dark horse in keeper leagues, so he should now be on the fantasy radar in most leagues. As for Ybarra, he's a long shot to ever become a factor in fantasy leagues--though as a lefty reliever you never know for sure.
