ANGELS GET VETERAN LEFTY BAT DeJESUS

The Los Angeles Angels acquired designated hitter/outfielder David DeJesus from the Tampa Bay Rays for pitcher Eduar Lopez.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels are making a concerted effort to upgrade at both DH and left field, so DeJesus should help at both positions. He's a professional hitter who does well against right-handed pitching (so he should form a platoon in LA).

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays are starting to fade in the American League East division race, so this move is a sign they may be sellers between now and the end of 2015. In Lopez, the Rays get a 20-year-old right-hander with plenty of upside.

Fantasy impact
DeJesus remains a platoon player, so his fantasy value will continue to be somewhat limited. As for Lopez, he should now be on the fantasy radar as a long-range pitching prospect.
