BLUE JAYS ADD STUD LEFTY DAVID PRICE

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher David Price from the Detroit Tigers for pitchers Daniel Norris, Matt Boyd and Jairo Labourt.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
After landing Troy Tulowitzki in a blockbuster deal with Colorado earlier in the week, Toronto now gets a legitimate ace left-hander to head their rotation (at least until he leaves as a free agent this winter). Price fills a huge void in the Blue Jays' rotation for their playoff push. The Jays paid a huge price, pardon the pun, but are clearly going for it this year.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers were considered buyers just a little while ago but the Miguel Cabrera injury has completely changed their fortunes for this season. So, GM Dave Dombrowski dealt his ace starter for three young left-handers who could all reach Detroit and become members of their rotation. This was a great deal for Detroit considering their current plight.

Fantasy impact
Price's short-term fantasy value may take a small hit moving from Comerica Park in Detroit to the Rogers Centre in Toronto but he still has plenty of offensive support behind him (if not more) with the Blue Jays. Norris, Boyd and Labourt are all quality prospects who could reach Detroit relatively quickly. Norris probably has the most upside, while Labourt is the long-range prospect among the group.
