GOMEZ TO HOUSTON IN A 7-ASSET SWAP

The Houston Astros acquired outfielder Carlos Gomez, pitcher Mike Fiers and international bonus slot three in 2015-16 from the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielders Domingo Santana and Brett Phillips, and pitchers Josh Hader and Adrian Houser.

What does it give the Houston Astros
The Astros are going for the American League West division crown this season, so adding Gomez and Fiers could help them reach their goal. Gomez adds another catalyst to the Houston lineup (along with 2B Jose Altuve) and upgrades the center field position offensively from Jake Marisnick. Fiers adds another quality starter to a surprisingly effective group this season. Houston did give up quality prospects, though.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The key player for Milwaukee in this transaction could be Phillips, a very good hitter and outfielder who is currently toiling at the Double-A level. Phillips has a chance to be an everyday corner outfielder in Milwaukee at some point next season. Hader is the best pitching prospect acquired in this deal and could also factor in Milwaukee's rebuild at some point in '16. Santana and Houser, plus the bonus money, simply add more punch to this great trade for the Brewers.

Fantasy impact
Gomez could thrive in Houston, so he may be a big fantasy winner here. Marisnick is the clear loser for the time being, as his playing time might dwindle down the stretch. Fiers' value remains steady with the Astros. Phillips and Hader should both benefit greatly from the move to Milwaukee's system and could both reach the bigs next season. Santana, who has seen time in MLB already, might now be considered Milwaukee's right-fielder of the future (and may force Ryan Braun back to left field, eventually). Houser is a few years away from fantasy relevance.
