BLUE JAYS ADD RELIEVER LOWE FROM THE M'S

The Toronto Blue Jays acquired pitcher Mark Lowe from the Seattle Mariners for pitchers Nick Wells, Jake Brentz and Rob Rasmussen.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are trying to not only make the postseason for the first time since the 1990's, but they're looking to make some noise when they get there. To that end, they've acquired Lowe to a bullpen that has already added LaTroy Hawkins (trade with Colorado) and Aaron Sanchez (former starter) recently. Lowe may be used in a setup role with Toronto for the rest of 2015.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
For the Mariners, this deal is excellent because it adds two very young left-handed arms in Wells and Brentz (plus the contract dump of Rasmussen). Lowe was having a good season out of their bullpen, so they cashed in and got great value in this disappointing campaign. Perhaps Seattle should consider trading more veterans before the deadline?

Fantasy impact
Lowe will likely be used in a setup role, but pitching in Toronto requires an adjustment. Therefore, don't be surprised if Lowe's fantasy value takes a bit of a dip with the Blue Jays. Wells and Brentz should squarely be on the keeper-league radar, while Rasmussen was just a throw-in and will continue to have no fantasy value.
