BUCS GET J.A. HAPP FROM THE MARINERS

The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired pitcher J.A. Happ from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Adrian Sampson.

What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pirates add a struggling left-handed starter in Happ, who will likely serve a depth role with Pittsburgh. Perhaps a fresh start (and a return to the National League) can place Happ back on track.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
The Mariners did well to rid themselves of a pitcher who was clearly struggling this season. Adding Sampson could wind up benefitting Seattle in the long run as he might be a starting pitcher candidate next season.

Fantasy impact
This deal should help both Happ and Sampson, though neither should be fantasy options at present time (Happ due to his struggles and possible lack of opportunity in Pittsburgh, and Sampson's lack of minor-league dominance).
