PIRATES LAND MORSE FOR TABATA
The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired outfielder/first baseman Michael Morse from the Los Angeles Dodgers for outfielder Jose Tabata.
What does it give the Pittsburgh Pirates
Morse was designated for assignment as soon as he was acquired by the Dodgers, but he could be serviceable for Pittsburgh as a possible platoon mate on the outfield corners or first base. He's also a solid bat off the bench.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Tabata, like Morse, was designated for assignment recently, and had been outrighted to Triple-A ball as well. For now, he may remain in the minors but should be recalled by the Dodgers at some point later this season.
Fantasy impact
Neither Morse nor Tabata are good fantasy options at this time, as both figure to be bench players down the stretch in 2015.
