PADRES GET LEFTY RELIEVER RZEPCZYNSKI
The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Marc Rzepczynski from the Cleveland Indians for outfielder Abraham Almonte.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres decided to NOT sell off assets and will attempt to claim a Wild Card berth into the postseason. To do so, they'll need some more help from the bullpen, which is where Rzepczynski comes in. The Pads now have a solid lefty to complement the rest of their relievers.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Cleveland is a seller this year, so they moved out situational lefty Rzepczynski in order to land Almonte--a toolsy outfielder who has yet to untap his full potential. The Indians will be Almonte's fourth big-league organization, after stops with the Yankees, Mariners and Padres.
Fantasy impact
Rzepczynski doesn't have much fantasy value as a situational lefty, while Almonte is still a fantasy dark horse at this point.
