BREWERS ACQUIRE INFIELDER VILLAR

The Milwaukee Brewers acquired infielder Jonathan Villar from the Houston Astros for pitcher Cy Sneed.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
This could turn into a steal for Milwaukee if Villar receives regular playing time and gains a little maturity. He has obvious talent and can play several different positions, so he adds plenty of value to the Brew Crew. He could end up starting at shortstop ahead of the disappointing Jean Segura in 2016.

What does it give the Houston Astros
For the Astros, this deal was about landing a decent pitching prospect in Sneed while moving out an expendable infielder in Villar (who was Houston's shortstop of the future before Carlos Correa was drafted). The 'Stros used Villar as a utility man in 2015, so they shouldn't have much trouble replacing him.

Fantasy impact
Villar's fantasy stock is on the rise after leaving Houston, as he stands a much better chance to play every day with Milwaukee. He should enter spring training as a true sleeper. As for Sneed, his fantasy value is for the future as he's still a few years away.
