The Chicago Cubs acquired pitcher Spencer Patton from the Texas Rangers for infielder Frandy De La Rosa.
What does it give the Chicago Cubs
Until Patton figures out how to pitch (and not just be a hard thrower on the mound), he will remain organizational depth for any club. Still, the Cubs must see some untapped upside here.
What does it give the Texas Rangers
De La Rosa is a 19-year-old shortstop who can steal bases and switch-hit, but is extremely raw. Still, he's a nice pickup for Texas considering Patton's wildness at the big-league level.
Fantasy impact
Neither player offers a lot of current fantasy value, but both should be on the future radar (especially De La Rosa).
