WHITE SOX LAND RELIEVER KAHNLE
The Chicago White Sox acquired pitcher Tommy Kahnle from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Yency Almonte.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
The White Sox could use Kahnle a lot in 2016. Only 26, the right-hander struck out 39 batters in just 33.1 innings for the Rockies last season. He could find his way into the mix for holds and saves if he pitches well in spring training.
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies decided to give up on Kahnle by designating him for assignment in order to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for a prospect. In Almonte, the Rox acquired a marginal prospect who put up good numbers in 2015. He's only 21.
Fantasy impact
Kahnle could be considered a fantasy dark horse heading into 2016, though his chances of playing a prominent bullpen role with the White Sox would improve if the club decided to trade closer David Robertson (which seems unlikely at this point). As for Almonte, he offers only modest long-range fantasy upside.
