ORIOLES ADD DEPTH CATCHER PENA

The Baltimore Orioles acquired catcher Francisco Pena from the Kansas City Royals for cash.

What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
The Orioles traded Steve Clevenger to Seattle in another deal, so Pena should replace him as Baltimore's third catcher on the organizational depth chart. He's a decent backup, so he should help maintain the team's strength at the position.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
The Royals recently acquired Tony Cruz from the St. Louis Cardinals to serve as Salvador Perez' backup in 2016. Therefore, the team decided that Pena was expendable and moved him to another organization for a cash return.

Fantasy impact
Pena's fantasy stock is probably tied to the health of both Matt Wieters and Caleb Joseph in Baltimore, so he should not be on the radar at this time.
