YANKEES GET STARLIN CASTRO FOR CHICAGO

The New York Yankees acquired infielder Starlin Castro from the Chicago Cubs for pitcher Adam Warren and a player to be named later.

What does it give the New York Yankees
This deal plugs a big hole for the Yankees, who needed another right-handed bat for their lineup (and also someone to take over at second base on a permanent basis). Castro should be a good fit for New York, and he could wind up hitting in the heart of their batting order. This is a great deal for the Yanks, as Castro might make a big impact in the Bronx.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
For the Cubs, this deal was more about shedding Castro's salary and opening up second base for the signing of free agent Ben Zobrist (who has a long history with manager Joe Maddon). In Warren, the Cubs land a serviceable right-hander who will likely be used as a reliever. The player to be named later may become veteran utilty infielder Brendan Ryan.

Fantasy impact
Castro's fantasy value could be on the rise here, especially if he quickly adjusts to his new surroundings (and the American League, in general). Warren's fantasy value is also on the rise because he may play a bigger role in Chicago. The big losers after this trade are Dustin Ackley (who is now back on the bench in New York) and Javier Baez (who won't succeed Castro at second base with Zobrist now on board).
