MARINERS ACQUIRE VETERAN 1B ADAM LIND

The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Adam Lind from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitchers Daniel Missaki, Carlos Herrera and Freddy Peralta.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
In Lind, the Mariners add a solid veteran left-handed bat to likely platoon with Jesus Montero at first base. Seattle already has plenty of left-handed bats in the middle of the order (Robinson Cano, Kyle Seager, Seth Smith et al), so this move isn't an ideal fit for the Mariners.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers did well to land three right-handed pitching prospects, all under 20 years old, in exchange for their starting first baseman. All three of Missaki, Herrera and Peralta are several years away from reaching Major League Baseball but the Brew Crew are fully rebuilding anyway.

Fantasy impact
Lind's playing time (and power numbers) could take a hit now that he's going to play half the time at spacious Safeco Field, so his fantasy stock is in decline. Montero is also hurt by this move as he's now once again in a platoon situation at first base. Without Lind, Milwaukee needs a new starting first baseman. Perhaps Jason Rogers or Shane Peterson are candidates, making each a fantasy dark horse heading into spring training.
