TIGERS ACQUIRE LEFTY RELIEVER WILSON

The Detroit Tigers acquired pitcher Justin Wilson from the New York Yankees for pitchers Luis Cessa and Chad Green.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers are looking to contend for a World Series once again in 2016, so adding left-handed reliever Wilson makes sense here. He will join forces with fellow newcomers Francisco Rodriguez and Mark Lowe, plus promising fireballer Bruce Rondon, to form a quality late-inning bullpen situation in Detroit.

What does it give the New York Yankees
For the Yankees, this deal was about landing more starting pitching depth. Cessa, a former Mets prospect, is a solid prospect with a decent chance of becoming a capable big-league starter. Green is more of a depth starter. New York now has a hole to fill in the bullpen, but there's still a lot of time left this off-season.

Fantasy impact
Wilson should remain a strong candidate for holds as the main lefty out of the Tigers' bullpen in 2016. Therefore, his fantasy value remains steady. Cessa has keeper-league appeal but is not likely to pitch in the Bronx in '16. Green is a marginal talent.
