ANGELS ACQUIRE JEFRY MARTE FROM DETROIT

The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Jefry Marte from the Detroit Tigers for infielder Kory Eaves.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels get an intriguing player in Marte, who is still only 24 years old. He has power and the ability to play the corner infield positions, so he could be a candidate to break camp with the big club after spring training.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers decided to designate Marte for assignment recently, so they weren't going to receive a whole lot in return. In Eaves, Detroit gets a decent middle infielder with some power and speed. He will serve as depth.

Fantasy impact
Marte might still have some dark horse appeal in most fantasy leagues, but he will need an injury in order to open up a spot in the starting lineup. As for Eaves, he is more of a major fantasy long shot at this point.
