ANGELS, FISH TRADE YOUTH FOR EXPERIENCE
The Florida Marlins acquired pitcher Kevin Gregg from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for pitcher Chris Resop.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
Gregg is a solid righty who gives the Florida pitching staff some experience and versatility. He's got a fairly reliable arm and, while he has more success as a middle reliever, he has the stamina to make a spot start whenever he's needed.
What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
The Angels decided to go a little younger with this trade, as the 24-year-old Resop heads to Orange County. He's a big right-handed reliever who's still a little rough around the edges following his conversion from the outfield in 2003. He throws extremely hard and though he struggled with his command as a rookie in 2006, once he gets over the jitters he should show more of the command he displayed in the minors. Resop has the makings of a strong setup man.
