PHILLIES ADD FEATHERSTON FROM THE HALOS

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Taylor Featherston from the Los Angeles Angels for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies aren't very deep in the middle infield now that veteran franchise staples Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley are gone. Freddy Galvis, Cesar Hernandez and Darnell Sweeney may be all that stand between Featherston and regular at-bats in Philly. Therefore, this was a low-risk acquisition with decent upside for Philly.

What does it give the Los Angeles Angels
For the Angels this moves gives them something for nothing (essentially), since they had designated Featherston for assignment recently. Los Angeles didn't have as much of a need to keep Featherston as the Phillies had to acquire him, mostly because of new additions Andrelton Simmons, Yunel Escobar and Cliff Pennington.

Fantasy impact
Featherston is more of a defensive infielder than offensive catalyst, so his fantasy value should remain minimal even if he gets regular playing time in Philadelphia.
