OAKLAND ACQUIRES LEFT-FIELDER DAVIS
The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder Khris Davis from the Milwaukee Brewers for pitcher Bowdien Derby and catcher Jacob Nottingham.
What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's were a little lacking in the power department, so the addition of Davis makes a lot of sense. He will probably slide into the middle of the batting order and is a good bet to lead his new team in home runs in 2016. His arrival will likely push veteran Coco Crisp to a bench role this season.
What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
With the Brewers in full-blown rebuilding mode these days, it makes sense to see the club move 28-year-old Davis at this time. With Davis now in Oakland, look for Domingo Santana to take over in left field (if he has a strong spring). Derby and Nottingham are solid long-range prospects for Milwaukee.
Fantasy impact
Davis moves to the American League, which might be a plus, but will now play half his games in a more spacious ball park in Oakland. Therefore, his fantasy value should remain the same this season (he is a decent pickup in any league to fill out a fantasy outfield). Santana's stock is now on the rise, while Derby and Nottingham should be on the keeper-league radar as two potential future Brewers (especially catching prospect Nottingham).
