TEXAS ADDS CATCHING DEPTH WITH HOLADAY

The Texas Rangers acquired catcher Bryan Holaday from the Detroit Tigers for catcher Bobby Wilson and pitcher Myles Jaye.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers get a solid backup catcher to add to what they already have in Robinson Chirinos and Chris Gimenez (though the latter may begin the regular season on the disabled list due to an ankle injury). Holaday has a chance to see more playing time with Texas.

What does it give the Detroit Tigers
The Tigers wanted badly to trade Holaday because they are set behind the dish with James McCann and Jarrod Saltalamacchia, so they added a depth replacement receiver in Wilson and pitching depth in the form of Jaye. Detroit didn't get much back for Holaday.

Fantasy impact
None of Holaday, Wilson or Jaye has much in the way of fantasy value and the three are mostly organizational depth for the Rangers and Tigers, respectively.
