DODGERS RE-ACQUIRE RAMSEY, WALTERS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired outfielder/infielder Zach Walters and outfielder James Ramsey from the Cleveland Indians for cash.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
It's not at all surprising the Dodgers are making this deal, since they drafted both of Walters and Ramsey (Walters in 2010, Ramsey in 2012). The sleeper of the swap might be Ramsey, who was a first-round pick and is fairly toolsy (though he's a deep sleeper at best). Both he and Walters are aging prospects, so at this point they don't project as more than outfield and infield depth, respectively. Both will begin the season in the minors.
What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
Both of Walters and Ramsey fail to make a lot of contact as batters, and each is 26 years old. With those factors in mind the Indians have several young prospects more talented than the two, and Cleveland is a more cost-conscious club than the Dodgers (so this deal makes sense for the Indians at both the baseball and financial levels). Still, it's rare that an MLB club sells off two players for cash without anything else in return.
Fantasy impact
Neither of Walters nor Ramsey projected as much of a fantasy factor for Cleveland now or in the future, and things only get worse for them in that respect in the deeper Dodgers organization (so there's little fantasy impact to this deal).
