CUBS BRING BACK VERSATILE CHRIS COGHLAN

The Chicago Cubs acquired outfielder/infielder Chris Coghlan from the Oakland Athletics for infielder/outfielder Arismendy Alcantara.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
The Cubs are the best team in MLB so far in 2016, but they have run into a few injuries and could use Coghlan's versatility. He played with the Cubs in both 2014 and 2015, so both team and player know what to expect here.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
For the Athletics, this was an opportunity to acquire a decent prospect in Alcantara. Still only 24, Alcantara should find his way to Oakland at some point this season. His natural position is second base, but he is versatile.

Fantasy impact
While Coghlan's diminishing fantasy value should drop even more now that he's headed back to the stacked Cubs. Meanwhile, Alcantara's long-range fantasy value is now suddenly back on the upswing. Funny how that works sometimes.
