OSWALDO ARCIA TO TAMPA BAY

The Tampa Bay Rays acquired outfielder Oswaldo Arcia from the Minnesota Twins for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
The Rays have been hit by the injury bug in their outfield lately, with Kevin Kiermaier, Brandon Guyer, Steven Souza Jr., Steve Pearce and Mikie Mahtook ALL currently on the disbaled list. Therefore, Arcia should provide depth on the outfield corners in the meantime. Once a top prospect with the Twins, Arcia may not be long for Tampa Bay and could be sent back down to the minors once some of the walking wounded return.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
The Twins finally gave up on the 25-year-old Venezuelan slugger after parts of four seasons in Minnesota. The left-handed batter never found the level of consistency required to play every day in Major League Baseball and probably needed a change of scenery. The Twins will now move on and add a future asset in the deal (though likely a marginal prospect). This opens up more playing time for rookie Max Kepler in Minny.

Fantasy impact
Arcia's fantasy shine has long since lost its luster, and now he is merely trying to survive in Major League Baseball. He is not recommendable. However, Kepler is a decent keeper-league option who may be a worthy fantasy pickup in all formats at some point this season.
