RED SOX GET UTILITY MAN MICHAEL MARTINEZ

The Boston Red Sox acquired infielder/outfielder Michael Martinez from the Cleveland Indians for cash.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox are using utility man Brock Holt as a semi-regular left-fielder this season (and he is now injured), so that could explain why the club acquired a Holt clone in Martinez (who can play all over the outfield and infield).

What does it give the Cleveland Guardians
The Indians decided to designate the 33-year-old Martinez for assignment recently, so they moved him to Boston in exchange for cash. Cleveland has a versatile player in Jose Ramirez (who plays both the outfield and infield).

Fantasy impact
Martinez is not expected to see enough at-bats with Boston to become fantasy viable, so he is not really radar-worthy in fantasy baseball at this point.
