ORIOLES ACQUIRE LEFT-HANDER MILEY
The Baltimore Orioles acquired pitcher Wade Miley from the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Ariel Miranda.
What does it give the Baltimore Orioles
This is a solid addition for the Orioles, as they have battled starting rotation issues for much of 2016. Miley should add some stability to a Baltimore rotation that has been extremely shaky (beyond Chris Tillman), and he will help the O's in their quest to win the American League East division.
What does it give the Seattle Mariners
For the Mariners, adding Miranda provides an option to replace Miley, perhaps even at some point this season. Cuban Miranda is already 27 years old, so he might not need too much more development time. That is good news for the Mariners, who are still in the Wild Card hunt in the AL.
Fantasy impact
Miley heads to Baltimore with a huge red flag in terms of his fantasy prospects. While he should receive plenty more run support with the Orioles, he will also move to a much more hitter-friendly ball park. That could hurt Miley's numbers down the stretch. Buyer beware! As for Miranda, his fantasy prospects improve a little by moving to Seattle (though he still does not have great long-range value).
