YANKEES ADD TYLER CLIPPARD TO HELP 'PEN

The New York Yankees acquired pitcher Tyler Clippard from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitcher Vicente Campos.

What does it give the New York Yankees
This is an interesting trade for the Yankees, since they recently traded two left-handed closers (Aroldis Chapman and Andrew Miller) in a short span. The deals left New York without a true setup man for new (old) closer Dellin Betances, which is where Clippard comes in. The 31-year-old Clippard was originally a Yankee but has bounced around recently (Washington, Oakland, New York Mets and Arizona since 2014).

What does it give the Arizona Diamondbacks
This is a very good deal for the Diamondbacks, who have been a major disappointment in 2016. Clippard was not pitching particularly well this season and is already 31. In return Arizona lands 24-year-old Venezuelan Campos, who has battled injuries in his development years both with Seattle and New York since signing with the Mariners in 2009. That said, he may have turned a healthy corner this season.

Fantasy impact
Campos could become a solid starting pitching candidate for Arizona in 2017, so his fantasy stock rises after this trade. As does Clippard's, who should now be in a perfect situation setting up the talented Betances in the Bronx.
