CASTILLO HEADS BACK TO THE MARLINS!
The Miami Marlins acquired pitcher Luis Castillo from the San Diego Padres for pitcher Colin Rea.
What does it give the Miami Marlins
Incredibly, the Marlins were able to get back Castillo (one of the key prospects sent to San Diego recently in the Andrew Cashner trade) and send Rea--who injured his elbow in his first start as a Marlin--back to the Padres. The Marlins will probably continue to seek starting rotation help, so Castillo may be dealt again.
What does it give the San Diego Padres
The Padres were not forced to send Castillo back, or to take Rea back, but General Manager A.J. Preller decided to make the sporting gesture (probably in order to keep communication lines open with Miami in the future, and also as a way to show other teams around MLB that San Diego can be trustworthy).
Fantasy impact
Castillo's fantasy stock remains high, whether in San Diego, Miami or elsewhere. As for Rea, his elbow injury is now somewhat of a concern (but his overall fantasy value was not very high to begin with).
