GIANTS ADD LEFT-HANDER MATT MOORE

The San Francisco Giants acquired pitcher Matt Moore from the Tampa Bay Rays for infielder Matt Duffy, pitcher Michael Santos and infielder Lucius Fox.

What does it give the San Francisco Giants
The Giants add a quality left-handed starter in Moore, who has endured an up-and-down 2016 campaign in Tampa Bay. That said, he pitched well in July and should help an aging back end of the rotation. Losing their starting third baseman in Duffy hurts a bit, but Eduardo Nunez (recently acquired from Minnesota) should help curb the loss of Duffy.

What does it give the Tampa Bay Rays
Duffy is an interesting addition to the Rays, as he is expected to take over at shortstop whenever he returns from the disabled list. He might be able to bring a very interesting bat to a lineup in desperate need of one. Santos is a decent pitching prospect, while Fox is an intriguing but raw shortstop prospect who is several years away from the bigs.

Fantasy impact
Moore's fantasy stock should rise now that he is going to pitch at PNC Park under the tutelage of pitching coach Dave Righetti. Duffy's stock may get a significant boost if he can stick at shortstop, though that is not agiven. Fox and Santos don't need to be on the radar at this time. Nunez could be a big winner now that Duffy is gone.
