DODGERS TAKE A CHANCE ON JOSH FIELDS
The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired pitcher Josh Fields from the Houston Astros for first baseman Yordan Alvarez.
What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
Fields is the type of talented reliever who could easily revive his career at Chavez Ravine, so he is an interesting pickup for the Dodgers. He will remain in the minors for now but could see his way back to the bigs before the end of 2016.
What does it give the Houston Astros
Alvarez is extremely young and raw, but he does have plenty of long-range upside as a potential first baseman of the future. Therefore, he is a nice addition for Houston in exchange for a reliever who had fallen on hard time (Fields).
Fantasy impact
Fantasy leaguers must wait to see if Fields can turn his career around before taking another flier on him. As for Alvarez, he is going to need significant development time but may already be on the keeper-league radar.
