M'S PICK UP SWITCH-PITCHER PAT VENDITTE

The Seattle Mariners acquired pitcher Pat Venditte from the Toronto Blue Jays for a player to be named later.

What does it give the Seattle Mariners
Venditte is fairly unique in that he can legitimately pitch with either arm, making him impressively versatile depending on the match-up. Then again, at age 31 he's somewhat a journeyman; and he has been far more impressive in the minors (where he has a career 2.54 ERA) than in MLB (4.58). For now Venditte will provide bullpen depth as a middle man at Triple-A.

What does it give the Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays have been slowly and quietly sorting out their big-league bullpen this season (especially lately), and moving Venditte is just the latest maneuver in that effort. He saw limited action with the big club this season and didn't perform particularly well when he did, which only adds to the rationale for trading him at this time.

Fantasy impact
At age 31 and without a clear role, Venditte doesn't look likely to provide much fantasy value going forward. There's no fantasy impact for either the Blue Jays nor the Mariners here.
