KIM FOR JULIO

The Florida Marlins acquired pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Jorge Julio.

What does it give the Miami Marlins
The Marlins quickly ended the Julio closer experiment, after acquiring him from Arizona earlier in the season. In Kim, Florida adds another underachiever--though with more versatility. Kim has been a closer, a starter, a setup man and a middle reliever over the course of his career, so he should help the Fish if he can stay healthy. However, he's been battling a thumb injury since spring training and has yet to pitch in 2007.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Julio is mainly a short reliever, but he's also been a disaster in the closer role recently. In Colorado, where Brian Fuentes is entrenched in the ninth-inning role, he won't have any pressure placed upon him. Julio will contend for setup duties with young right-handers Manny Corpas and Ramon Ramirez, as well as veteran righty LaTroy Hawkins.
