BARMES TO ASTROS
The Houston Astros acquired infielder Clint Barmes from the Colorado Rockies for pitcher Felipe Paulino.
What does it give the Houston Astros
In Barmes, the Astros hope to have solved their shortstop issues. He's a bit inconsistent with the bat, but has decent power. He's an upgrade, without question, to what Houston utilized at the position in 2010. And he comes at a reasonable price (Paulino).
What does it give the Colorado Rockies
Barmes was deemed expendable in Denver, mainly due to the emergence of second-base candidates Eric Young and Jonathan Herrera. Paulino adds versatility to the pitching staff, and quite possibly some depth for the rotation.
