BOSOX ADD LEFTY MORALES

The Boston Red Sox acquired pitcher Franklin Morales from the Colorado Rockies for cash.

What does it give the Boston Red Sox
The Red Sox have not had much success in finding a situational lefty for their bullpen so far this season. Morales will get a shot at the role, replacing Japanese lefty Hideki Okajima, who was designated for assignment. Morales has upside but is wild. Boston may need to be patient here.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies finally gave up on Morales, after using him in virtually every pitching role imaginable since his rookie season in 2007. Moving Morales out leaves Matt Reynolds as Colorado's lone lefty in the bullpen. Don't expect the Rockies to get much in return here. They essentially gave Morales a change of scenery.
