CUBS GET STEWART IN 4-PLAYER SWAP

The Chicago Cubs acquired third baseman Ian Stewart and pitcher Casey Weathers from the Colorado Rockies for outfielder Tyler Colvin and infielder D.J. LeMahieu.

What does it give the Chicago Cubs
In Stewart, the Cubs hope they have found the heir apparent to 3B Aramis Ramirez, who's now a free agent. He struggled badly in Colorado but the change of scenery should help him. Weathers is a decent prospect for the bullpen, so overall the Cubs did well here--even though Colvin has talent.

What does it give the Colorado Rockies
The Rockies have high hopes for Colvin, who might wind up on an outfield corner if Colorado ships out Seth Smith (as rumored). Otherwise, he'll fill an important role as the fourth outfielder and backup 1B. LeMahieu is an infielder who'll provide depth.
