PUDGE BACK TO TEXAS

The Texas Rangers acquired catcher Ivan Rodriguez from the Houston Astros for pitcher Matt Nevarez and a player to be named later.

What does it give the Texas Rangers
The Rangers needed help behind the plate for their playoff push, since Jarrod Saltalamacchia is currently on the disabled list. Pudge, one of the greatest Rangers of all time, will provide some insurance as a backup to Taylor Teagarden, though Rodriguez could step into the starter's role if Teagarden falters down the stretch.

What does it give the Houston Astros
The Astros received quite a lot in return for their aging backstop. Nevarez is a pretty good prospect, and a young one at that (22 years old). The first player to be named later is expected to be infielder Jose Vallejo, once he clears trade waivers, while Houston will also receive another player if Texas makes the post-season.
