TEAHEN TO THE CHISOX
The Chicago White Sox acquired infielder/outfielder Mark Teahen from the Kansas City Royals for infielders Chris Getz and Josh Fields.
What does it give the Chicago White Sox
Teahen could assume the third base job with the Pale Hose, though Gordon Beckham may be kept there for the long haul. He may also play right or left field. At worst, he'll be a super-sub for Chicago. At best, he'll add another power bat and help replace the lefty bat of departed DH Jim Thome.
What does it give the Kansas City Royals
Getz and Fields may be stuck behind Alberto Callaspo and Alex Gordon, respectively, in KC. However, this deal does give the Royals more options. Teahen never fully panned out at any one position with the Royals, so adding two players with more stable defensive positions was smart.
