DeJESUS TO OAKLAND

The Oakland Athletics acquired outfielder David DeJesus from the Kansas City Royals for pitchers Vin Mazzaro and Justin Marks.

What does it give the Oakland Athletics
The A's like patient hitters who hit doubles and play good defense, so DeJesus should be an ideal fit. He can play all three outfield positions with aplomb, but look for him to begin 2011 in either left or right field. He won't hit many home runs, however, which is currently a team weakness.

What does it give the Kansas City Royals
In Mazzaro and Marks, the Royals have added a couple of solid young arms to help build their pitching staff. Marks could be the key to the deal down the road, but he's a few years away from reaching the big leagues. Mazzaro was inconsistent during his Oakland stint, but should compete for a rotation spot.
