PIERRE TO THE WHITE SOX

The Chicago White Sox acquired outfielder Juan Pierre from the Los Angeles Dodgers for two players to be named later.

What does it give the Chicago White Sox
In Pierre, the White Sox have added a top base-stealer and capable leadoff man. He'll likely play left field, replacing last year's speedster--Scott Podsednik. Carlos Quentin, who played left field before going down to injury, is expected to move to right field to replace Jermaine Dye. The Pale Hose have improved their outfield defense and added an element of speed with this move.

What does it give the Los Angeles Dodgers
The Dodgers loved having Pierre on the roster as their fourth outfielder, but they also realized that he was still a capable everyday outfielder/leadoff man. Therefore, they did the right thing and moved him to the White Sox for a pair of prospects, believed to be pitchers John Ely and Jon Link. The Dodgers have also sent Chicago a little cash to help pay Pierre's salary better.
