HARDY FOR GOMEZ

The Minnesota Twins acquired shortstop J.J. Hardy from the Milwaukee Brewers for outfielder Carlos Gomez.

What does it give the Minnesota Twins
In Hardy, the Twins hope to have found their long-term solution to their shortstop problem. He has better-than-average power for the position, but he needs to become more consistent. The Twins struggled to find a regular shortstop last season, until they landed veteran Orlando Cabrera.

What does it give the Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers will look to Gomez to provide speed both on the base-paths and in center field in 2010. He replaces veteran Mike Cameron in center. While he has more upside than Cameron, Gomez needs to become more polished in all areas of the game in order to become an asset in Milwaukee.
